Wednesday Jan 15, 2020
Today is a very special day for us here! I’m very excited to share what we’re launching for you – the emerging leaders, business owners, church leaders, solo-preneurs, artists, and ANYONE who desire to take their life, business, and leadership to the next level.
We’re launching our Strategic Influencers Mastermind group! Many of you are familiar with the concept and function of a mastermind group, though others of you may not be. I’m going to share the vision, concept, value, and practical functions of the mastermind.
Today we’ll answer:
- What is a mastermind group?
- Where did the idea come from?
- What does a mastermind do?
- How can it benefit you and your business?
- Why should every aspiring leader be a part of a mastermind program?
- And so much more
Let’s get right into discussing The Strategic Influencers Mastermind: Next Level Collaboration for Emerging Leaders.
What Is A Mastermind?
- Mastermind groups offer a combination of brainstorming, education, peer accountability and support in a group setting to sharpen your business and personal skills.
- A mastermind group helps you and your mastermind group members achieve more success.
- Participants challenge each other to set powerful goals, and more importantly, to accomplish them.
- The group requires commitment, confidentiality, willingness to both give and receive advice and ideas, and support each other with total honesty, respect, and compassion.
- Mastermind group members act as catalysts for growth and supportive colleagues.
- The concept of the “mastermind alliance” was formally introduced by Napoleon Hill in his timeless classic, “Think And Grow Rich,” though mastermind groups have been around since the beginning of time.
- Even Benjamin Franklin belonged to such a group, which he called a Junto.
The Benefits of Belonging to a Mastermind Group:
- In a mastermind group, the agenda belongs to the group and each person’s participation and commitment is key
- Your mastermind partners give you feedback, help you brainstorm new possibilities
- The mastermind provides accountability structures that keep you focused and on track
- You create a community of supportive colleagues who brainstorm together to move the members to new heights
- You’ll gain tremendous insights which improve your business and personal life
- Your mastermind group is like having an objective board of directors, a success team, and a peer advisory group, all rolled into one.
The Strategic Influencers Mastermind Group:
What are we looking for?
- You have a burning desire to elevate your life and leadership.
- You’re working full time on your business or are close to making that move.
- You recognize your need to have others speak into your life and situation,
- You are committed to adding value to others in the group
- You are able to commit to a weekly online mastermind group meeting.
- You are willing and able to commit to attending 2-3 “in-person” meetings each calendar year.
- You are able and willing to invest financially in your mastermind membership
(More information and guidelines will be provided to you in your personal interview)
When Will We Meet?
Every Wednesday
- 2pm Central
- 3pm Eastern
- Noon Pacific
Where Do We Meet?
Weekly (Online) Meetings
Our primary and most consistent method for meeting is online. The wonderful thing about this is you can be anywhere as long as you have a quality internet connection. Your geographical location is not important, but your presence on the video conference is.
Each week we meet on the same day and at the same time. We use a well-respected and dependable service called ZOOM.
In-Person Intensives
We will conduct two to three in-person meetings each calendar year. The format of these will vary from meeting to meeting, however, they are a very different experience than our weekly calls.
Each LIVE meeting will consist of 2 1/2 days of training, processes, and high-level mastermind exercises designed to generate a 10X outcome in your life, business, ministry, or mission. Each member will have extensive “hot seat” time, and will leave the meeting with a strategy and actionable plan.

NOTE:

SLP151 - Surrounded : The Value of Real Friends and Why You Need Them
Wednesday Jan 15, 2020
Wednesday Jan 15, 2020
Someone once said it’s the ultimate blessing if in a lifetime they have a few good friends. That statement is so true, yet in our culture today, what we call “friendships” barely qualify as acquaintances.
We’re so busy, we rarely take time to really do life with others. When faced with challenging times, so many of us find ourselves isolated. Why? Because there is a lack of investment in real friendships!
You are designed for relationship, partnership, and accountability. We all need people in our life who will love and challenge us to reach for the next level. This is why we’re going to talk about being Surrounded: The Value of Real Friends and Why You Need Them.
The Gist:
Jim Rohn once said, “You are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with.” Think about that! Every area of your life will ultimately look like the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with. Ask yourself:
- Do I want what they have, or do I want more?
- Do I like what I see in their marriage, or do I want better?
- Do I like where they are spiritually, financially, mentally, or am I designed for something greater?
9 Qualities of Real Friends:
1. Real friends love you, no matter your state or condition.
2. Real friends are patient, even when you have nothing to give.
3. Real friends care about your success and well-being MORE than they care about what you can do for them.
4. Real friends give more than they take.
5. Real friends don’t judge you for the mistakes you make, but they make judgements of you based on the character of your heart.
6. Real friends carry you during tough times.
7. Real friends speak the truth to you, even when you don’t want to hear it.
8. Real friends surround you with love and wisdom and provide you with a safe place to just be.
9. Real friends aren’t fickle; they care committed for the long haul.
What a blessing to have REAL friends!
Why You Need Real Friends:
- You need friends who love you in spite of yourself.
- You won’t always be strong. Sometimes you may need to lean on others.
- You don’t know it all. Smart people tap into the wisdom of their trusted peers and friends.
- You need accountability.
- You need friends for whom you never have to perform.
- You need others adding value to you.
- You need people who will speak truth, even when it hurts.
Closing Thoughts:
- My prayer for you is you will welcome transition, run into the new season, and realize the beauty and the value of true, God-ordained, meaningful relationships in your life.

SLP149 - Rainy Day Wisdom
Wednesday Jan 15, 2020
Wednesday Jan 15, 2020
For certain in life, we’re going to have rainy days. Days when things don’t go the way we thought they would. There will be days or entire seasons even, filled with trials, difficulty, challenges….STUFF!
There will be moments where it seems as though everything is in flux and nothing in life is certain. What do you do when the overwhelming “funk” settles over you?
How do you handle it when the National Weather Service of LIFE interrupts your regularly scheduled programming to notify you a severe storm is right on top of you?
On today’s program, we’re unpacking some Rainy Day Wisdom: 7 Things To Remember When Going Through A Personal Storm.
The Gist:
Recently, Sam Chand shared with us:
- Growth = Change
- Change = Loss
- Loss = Pain, therefore
- Growth = Pain
All of us experience storms in our lives. There will be times when not everything is going well. There will be times when you feel you have little direction, little motivation, and no traction. You may even experience a tragedy or life may deal a blow that sends you into a whirlwind of challenges.
BUT!
These seasons are just that. Seasons. They come and they go, they begin and they end. These seasons come to us with purpose and opportunity. They provide us with context and urgency which allow us to see where we are, what may be holding us back, and growth areas we can focus on.
Storms will come. When you are faced with yours, here’s how you can find your way through to the other side.
7 Things To Remember When Going Through A Personal Storm:
1. Never make major decisions while in the storm.
- Wait for the storm to clear. Assess your condition, make a plan, and thoughtfully move forward when it’s safe to do so.
2. Seek counsel (but remember, not all counsel is created equal).
- Surround yourself with wise people who can pour into your life or situation. Be mindful of the wisdom they’re sharing and make sure it is sound, and someone isn’t simply trying to be a hero and give you poor advice.
3. Remember who you are.
- Recall the promises, dreams, and goals you have on the inside. Discipline your mind to remember! Write it down if you have to.
4. Do what you know to do.
- But be careful not to take on new projects unless you are sure they are right for you right now.
5. Feed your mind with positive input.
- This could be in the form of sermons, books, podcasts, scripture, motivations, etc. Whatever works for you, DO IT! Find a way to take in positive, faith-building material.
6. It’s OK to be alone. It’s not OK to be isolated.
- Being alone is not always a bad thing, but when that turns into cutting off key relationships, not asking for counsel and advice, isolation and idle time, it can become a HUGE problem.
7. Spend time with the Father.
- He is faithful and He is working for your benefit. Whatever you’re going through today, He is your most faithful friend.
Closing Thoughts:
- You will go through storms and difficult seasons.
- Remember these 7 things to make sure you get through storm standing up.

SLP147 - Being Different Is Underrated
Wednesday Jan 15, 2020
Wednesday Jan 15, 2020
Fitting in, being accepted, understood, going along to get along, political correctness – the list goes on and on! These are presented to us every day from so many angles and viewpoints.
We’re constantly comparing ourselves to everyone else and measuring how unique we are based on the level of sameness we have with everyone else. It’s a disease!
Whatever happened to being who God made you to be? I want to challenge you today and propose Being Different is Underrated! Embracing your uniqueness is one of the essential keys to leadership influence. Let’s explore this together, shall we?
The Gist:
From an early age we’re under subtle pressure to conform, fit in, and to be “normal”. What is “normal”, anyway?
Interestingly enough, the reason we like to see ourselves share similarities with others is because it gives us a true sense of belonging. The challenge lies in the sense that “sameness” becomes one of our greatest enemies.
Believe it or not, our differences are what make us valuable to one another! How can one make a difference if all they have to offer is the exact same stuff everyone else is already offering?
Closing Thoughts:
- Why are we compelled to pursue acceptance from others?
- Why are other people’s opinions of us more important than finding our lane and running confidently in it?
- Why are we hesitant to ever stand alone?
- Don’t say yes if the best answer is no.
