SLP088 - ”A View From The Top” : An Interview with Aaron Walker
Tuesday Jan 14, 2020
Tuesday Jan 14, 2020
On today’s episode, I talk with my friend and fellow masterminder and coach, Aaron Walker. I met Aaron through Dan Miller several years ago. He demonstrates incredible passion for success, prosperity, and personal growth, and I’m so excited to share our conversation with you today. Truly – we covered so much powerful content in this episode, this might be one of your favorite interviews! I know it’s one of mine.
Aaron also has a special opportunity for our Strategic Living Podcast listening community. See the details below!
A Little About Aaron:
Businessman and Life Coach, Aaron T. Walker, has inspired many through his leadership, mentorship, and consistent pursuit of excellence. He enjoys helping others and believes experience is a great teacher. 35 years of entrepreneurship and marriage have given Aaron a wealth of experience. Aaron continues to reach new heights and broaden his perspective of the terrain by examining his experiences and growing from them.
Aaron is without question a veteran entrepreneur. Starting his first business at 18 and selling to a Fortune 500 company nine short years later demonstrates Aaron’s passion for succeeding. Unwilling to rest on past success Aaron started, bought and sold eight successful companies over the past 36 years. Having a strong desire for personal development has kept Aaron in a weekly mastermind group for more than a decade with Dave Ramsey, Dan Miller, Ken Abraham and seven other notable Nashvillians. Aaron has enjoyed a 35-year marriage with his beautiful wife, Robin. Today Aaron spends the majority of his time HELPING MEN GROW IN SUCCESS AND SIGNIFICANCE as President and Founder of VIEW FROM THE TOP, A PREMIER life and business coaching RESOURCE.
A Little Of Aaron’s Story As He Tells It:
At 13 years old, he started working in his dad’s pawn shop. He realized at 15 years old, it was what he wanted to run as his life’s career. Taking night classes and summer classes, he graduated early so he could work. He bought his forth store at 26 years old, and sold to a Fortune 500 company at 27 years old. He was an early business bloomer! The lack of mentors, however, sent him into a spiral of confusion and disconnectedness after selling his business at such a young age.
In 2001, Aaron hit a pedestrian who ran out in front of him, and tragically, that gentleman passed away three days later. It was a turning point in Aaron’s life, and he needed to take a step back. Aaron regrouped, went into construction, and then began coaching. He started “A View From the Top” a few years ago, and coaches and mentors men from all over.
He loves coaching men live intentionally and on purpose, and having the life God has created for them.

SLP086 - The Morning Routine
Tuesday Jan 14, 2020
Tuesday Jan 14, 2020
On today’s episode, we’ll talk about feeding your spirit, soul, and body, so you are ready to perform at your full potential every day! We’ll be talking about the power and leverage you gain by having a distinct, purposeful morning routine. I’ll also share with you my own personal routine and how it has changed my life.
I believe we’re designed to work, do things, and pour ourselves out – giving out of our essence. But we must also be filling ourselves up and be poured into. We cannot give what we do not have!
How can we ensure we’re ready to be poured out? How can we position ourselves every single day with a powerful advantage?
The Morning Routine:
Your first ritual that you do during the day is the highest leveraged ritual, by far, because it has the effect of setting your mind, and setting the context, for the rest of your day. ~ Eben Pagan
My morning routine was definitely a routine, but not at all a productive one, or one that contributed to my calling or priorities. It’s important to have a wholistic approach to your morning routine!
Spirit, Soul & Body
Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. ~ 1 Thess. 5:23
We need to feed our spiritual, emotional, and physical needs!
Every day I wake up and decide that I will start my day by practicing the discipline of filling up.
Spirit
Time focused on:
- God
- His word (the Bible)
- Devotions
- Prayer
- Listening to the voice of God (Leadership, direction, ideas, etc.)
- Audio Bible

- Beliefs
- Affirmations
- Envisioning my day (seeing it the way I want it to be)
- Picturing my goals as achieved and realized
- Practicing the habit of gratefulness
- Who am I grateful for?
- What am I grateful for?
- Who can I call and express my gratitude?
- Learning/Personal development
- Reading books
- Audible.com
- Take the Stairs, Rory Vaden
- Listening to audio programs
- Mastering the Attitude of Achievement, Lou Tice
- Reading books
Body
- Getting your body moving:
- increases blood flow
- releases endorphins
- increases metabolism
- supercharges your brain cells
- Increase your energy
- Moving your body increases your focus, clarity, and productivity!
5 Things To Consider As You Establish a Morning Routine:
1. Start your day the night before!
- Get a good night’s sleep! (Go to bed earlier!)
- Have a plan (checklist) for your morning
- Decide on a special place where you can have uninterrupted focus for you
- Set your workout clothes by your bed
2. Start early
- Give yourself adequate time to complete your new routine without pressure
3. Stay on plan
- This requires structure and discipline for a while
- It may feel awkward as you work on creating new habits and rituals
- Stay with it
4. Employ the support of loved ones and friends
- Let a few trusted people in on your plan
- Ask them to keep you accountable, and help you avoid distractions and interruptions
5. Mix and Match
- Walking/Running and Listening
Closing Thoughts:
A purposeful morning routine will set you up for a powerful, positive, and productive day! Always remember that you must feed your spirit, soul, and body. Find what works for you, and do the necessary work to make it a lifestyle.

SLP085 - An Interview with Matt McWilliams
Tuesday Jan 14, 2020
Tuesday Jan 14, 2020
On today’s episode, I talk with my new friend Matt McWilliams about overcoming limiting beliefs, and embracing potential to not only change yourself, but become a world-changer. In this in-depth conversation, we look at causes, effects, and behaviors associated with the issue of change. So many people struggle with this on some level, and many have no idea how significantly they are being affected by it in their day to day lives.
Matt also has a special opportunity for our Strategic Living Podcast listening community. See the details below!
A Little About Matt:
I am a published author in the book Internet Marketing From The Real Experts and have published countless articles in industry trade magazines. I was born and raised in the south and currently live in Fort Wayne, IN with my lovely wife Tara and daughter Aracelli.
My consulting company, Matt McWilliams Consulting, Inc. (that name took me forever to come up with), has clients all over the country in various industries ranging from educational courses to consumer goods and the financial industry. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my wife and daughter, running, reading, and long days of doing yard work listening to various podcasts.
A Little Of Matt’s Story As He Tells It:
I have worked in small business and online marketing for as long as I can remember. That is mostly because I could never make it in a “real job.”
At the age of 23, I was fired by my dad (the day after my birthday). That was the second time I’d been fired. Thankfully, I had started my own company on the side in online marketing. It only took two years for that company to go under.
At the age of 25, I was arrested and faced up to 42 years in prison. By the age of 27, I was an executive in a thriving start-up. We won the Best in Business Award from the Nashville Business Journal that year and by year’s end, we had 50+ people working for us. I was personally leading a team of 12 people…and had no clue what I was doing. I sucked as a leader and everyone knew it. I was their first employee and helped start the company above the CFO’s garage. I had no business leading a team, but somehow we managed to succeed in spite of me.
I was fired from there (my third firing in case you’re counting) but went on to find success at a new company. In 2010 I was recognized as the top Affiliate Marketing Manager in the world by the Affiliate Summit Pinnacle Awards. I’ve won numerous other awards in that field as well.
I left that company (the first time in my life that I left a job by choice) and went back to the previous company. Yes, the one that fired me. Eight months later, the CEO left and the company laid off more than half the staff. I was one of those people. Firing number four (and it will be my last).
So there I was in November of 2011. Unemployed, brand new house, a six-month old daughter and stay-at-home mom to support. That was the moment I decided to change the world.
Just kidding. That was the moment I decided to panic. But, once I calmed down, I resolved to live a life of meaning and purpose. I came to realize that I can and should change the world. I resolved never again to be dependent on an employer for income or others for approval. And I resolved to leave a legacy.
Due to the path I’ve taken to this point, I have a unique viewpoint on the ever-changing world in which we live. Most importantly, I have failed at mostly everything I have tried the first time. Thankfully, I usually learned from those mistakes.
And that is good news for you. I invite you to learn with me and from me. I invite you to leave your own legacy. I invite you to change the world. Are you in?

SLP083 - The Four Steps for Overcoming Limiting Beliefs
Tuesday Jan 14, 2020
Tuesday Jan 14, 2020
We can actually become STUCK in a present state because of limiting beliefs. The truth is most of what we struggle with in our lives, is not because of someone, or something outside of ourselves. It is because of our underlying core beliefs about life, worth, value, ability, etc.
If we can tune into the thoughts and the self talk taking place in our minds, and change our picture of what is possible, we can change our world.
In this episode, I want to share with you Four Steps For Overcoming Limiting Beliefs.
How you see yourself, your life, relationships, money, success, God, the opposite sex … has a direct bearing on how you will EXPERIENCE these things.
These kinds of beliefs completely paralyze us from becoming all God has intended us to be. You must change your mind, so you can change your world.
4 Steps for Overcoming Limiting Beliefs:
1. Identify the Limiting Belief
- Identify marker moments
- Identify models
- Identify imposed identities
- Identify words and ideas adopted as truth
- Identify opinions of others/yourself
2. Isolate
- Stop that! That is not who I am.
- That is not how I behave.
- That believe no longer serves me.
- That is an untruth, therefore I will not align myself with it.
3. Reframe
- What if…..?
- Ask yourself questions so you can reframe what really IS possible.
4. Replace
- What is the truth?
- How do I effectively replace the old with the new?
- Word pictures
Closing Thoughts:
As a man thinketh, so is he. We act in accordance with the truth as we believe it to be. In what holds you back in your life, you’ll need to change your mind so you can change your world. Remember these four steps for overcoming limiting beliefs.

SLP082 - The Four Cornerstones For Strategic Living
Tuesday Jan 14, 2020
Tuesday Jan 14, 2020
Just as a home or other building is constructed on a foundation, so our lives must be built on a proper foundation. As the foundation goes, so goes that which is built on it! In some parts of the world today, they still use a building method involving cornerstones. A cornerstone is a foundational anchor.
In this episode, I want to share with you the Four Cornerstones each person must have in order to live their lives successfully and strategically!
4 Cornerstones For Strategic Living:
1. Personal Healing:
- Identify broken places in our lives
- Identify limiting beliefs
- Bring brokenness to light so God can heal
- Confess faults and learn the value of authenticity
- Receive the Father’s love
- Know we are accepted by and approved of by Him
2. Personal Discovery:
- Who am I? Why am I here?
- Identity
- Talents, skills, abilities
- Personality styles
- Passions & dreams
- Convergence
3. Personal Development:
- Self-improvement
- Audio programs
- Reading books (or audio books!)
- Training/Development
4. Personal Deployment:
- During the journey, you must step into your new season.
- Preparation is useless if you never engage the purpose for which you have prepared!
- Leave your comfort zone; wander into unknown territory.
Closing Thoughts:
As we live and grow, we are constantly going through the cycles of these four cornerstones. Every level requires a greater level of healing, a greater level of discovery, a greater level of development, and that we are activated for the new place of assignment!
What stage are you in? God knows the plans He has for you (Jer 29:11)…let’s engage them!

SLP080 - The Four Stages of a Successful Transition
Tuesday Jan 14, 2020
Tuesday Jan 14, 2020
Whether it’s a career, relationships, church, or just life in general, how do we know when we are in transition? How do we identify and embrace when a season is coming to an end? What does the process look like, and how can I be successful in navigating change?
In this podcast episode, I want to share with you The Four Stages of a Successful Transition.
Over the course of my own life, I can identify several times I’ve experienced significant transition. As I reflect, I clearly see there were four specific stages through which I had to navigate completely before I was able to arrive at the next level of my life.
4 Stages of a Successful Transition:
1. Discontent:
…..What I’m presently doing is no longer satisfying. There’s something greater God has called me to.
2. Disconnect:
…..I have to let go of/disconnect from anything from my past that is hindering me from pursuing what lies ahead of me.
3. Discovery:
…..What is most important? Am I advancing the cause of God in my life?
4. Deployment:
…..Engaging in/actually doing what I’ve now discovered as my new avenue. This is a total step of faith!
Closing Thoughts:
Are you in a transition or season of change right now? What stage do you feel you’re in?
God has invited you on a journey and the entire process has multiple stages. Walk it out – – your next level is awaiting you!
