What was your relationship like with your natural father?
How has that impacted your ability to relate with God as your Father in heaven? Do you really know Him as Daddy God? On today’s podcast, I want to share with you a little of my personal journey and from that, share with you some keys for being fully restored to and fully engaged with God as Father.

And He said, “A man had two sons. The younger of them said to his father, ‘Father, give me the share of the estate that falls to me.’ So he divided his wealth between them. I will get up and go to my father, and will say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in your sight; I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me as one of your hired men.”’ So he got up and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion for him, and ran and embraced him and kissed him. 21 And the son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight; I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’ But the father said to his slaves, ‘Quickly bring out the best robe and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet; and bring the fattened calf, kill it, and let us eat and celebrate; for this son of mine was dead and has come to life again; he was lost and has been found.’ And they began to celebrate.

We live in a day where there are SO many opportunities to learn, grow, and consume great content. One of the most awesome ways is those mediums that come to us by way of the internet. What is really great is that ALL of these can be done on a computer, smart phone, tablet, or otherwise. This is the way I do SO MUCH of my personal development. This is the way I feed my mind and spirit on a regular basis. I am asked all the time, Brian, what do you listen to; what do you read? Well today, I’m going to share with you ‘The 5 Blogs and Podcasts’ that I never miss.

3 for receiving instruction in prudent behavior, doing what is right and just and fair;

One of my governing values is ‘I AM A LEARNER’. In today’s hectic and busy culture, I find that we have to be very disciplined and intentional if we are going to consistently be feeding our mind and spirit
Obviously we recommend READING books; I am on my 7th book this year. A wonderful way to do this on the go is with audiobooks (AUDIBLE.com). The truth is, however, that we are trending towards a very different way of consuming information. We enjoy doing it in BITE SIZES. We also seem to do better when the information is organized, and even fed to us in regular increments.
Some great ways of achieving this are:

- What kind of content challenges you, motivates you, and pushes you to go higher?
- Subscribe to these individual’s RSS feeds, podcasts, EMail lists
- This way you receive WHAT you want, WHEN you want it, and WHERE you want it

For me, blogs and podcasts are my primary way of consuming the information I need to grow daily.

It is amazing how we go about our lives and never realize the accumulation of STUFF. Files, papers, receipts, extras of everything, a garage full of sports equipment, camping gear that is never used, boxes, etc. What about BOOKS, magazines, or even the E-mail inbox? The truth is, there is something about the human condition where we want to collect and keep YET, there is a time to throw away, clean out, and get rid of things. In addition to ‘stuff’, we also find the intangible areas in chaos and disarray. Finances, our health, our relationships, our schedule, and so many other areas tend to get bogged down, and in extreme cases, out of order. Today, we are talking about ‘Clearing Out the Clutter and Getting Your House In Order’.

Ecclesiastes 3
A Time for Everything
3 There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven—
2 A time to give birth and a time to die;
A time to plant and a time to uproot what is planted.

SLP048 - God Bless America ... Again!

America, with all of its faults and challenges, still remains a shining beacon of hope, freedom, and opportunity. Without question, the USA stands as evidence of the grace and blessing of God. As I have crisscrossed this nation for the last 20 years, having visited more than 2/3 of the states, what I see is a beautiful land; a blessed people, and a nation that God Himself has raised up as a light.
On this week’s episode, we take time to give thanks and pray that God will bless our nation once more as we turn our hearts towards Him.
Over the last 50 years in this nation, there has been an intentional attempt to diminish that light. The most impressive enemy of our day is not Russia; it is not Iran; it is not North Korea or even Al Qaeda. The greatest enemy of our nation is complacency and division.
The Bible clearly states that ‘A nation divided against itself cannot stand’. Never before in our nation’s history has their been such division and strife between people groups:
- Republicans and Democrats
- Libertarians and Independents
- Blacks and Whites
- Conservatives and Liberals
- Pro-choice and pro-life
- Socialists and Capitalists
- The Bible is clear also that it is at the place of UNITY where God commands the blessing:
Psalm 133:1-3
Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brothers to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious oil upon the head, coming down upon the beard, even Aaron’s beard, coming down upon the edge of his robes. It is like the dew of Hermon coming down upon the mountains of Zion; For there the Lord commanded the blessing—life forever.
Our nations forefathers, with all of their own issues and faults, found it necessary to come together around a set of values
Declaration of Independence:

What we THINK or BELIEVE to be true governs the outcomes in our lives in a very real way. It stands to reason, then, that if there is a limiting belief or thought process in our mind, if we CHANGE our mind, then the results and outcomes will change as well. The MIND, the THOUGHTS, the BELIEFS we hold govern our ability to produce God size results. If you are unsatisfied with where your life is today, there is ONE clear recommendation I can make to you with confidence. Change Your Mind … and you really will Change Your World!
While you and I possess UNLIMITED potential, we are limited to what we believe at a CORE level. What your heart believes is that which will determine the direction and outcomes of your life
You actually move toward your current, most dominant PICTURE of how you see yourself and your future.
So the image or belief we hold in our mind concerning a thing, produces an outcome that resembles exactly what we believe. If the image or belief we hold is not what God KNOWS about us, we produce less than that which God intended and designed.
How the Mind Works
- Conscious – That part of the mind that HEARS and RECEIVES new information and input. That which you see, feel, taste, touch.
- Sub-conscious – The part of the mind where all previous information is stored. It is the hard drive of the mind containing memories, developed beliefs, hurts, wounds, experiences, perceptions, and identities. Your CORE BELIEFS. Everything you do; every decision you make; every position you take; is because of what you believe on this level
- Creative Conscious – This is the part of the mind that is responsible to REFEREE between the conscience and the sub-conscience. It is that part that REGULATES you back to the BELIEF that you hold. This part WORKS HARD AND NON-STOP to make sure that you never move outside the parameters set by your sub-conscience mind
How Are Beliefs Formed

- Parents’ Mindsets and Beliefs

REMEMBER: We act in accordance with the truth as we believe it to be, whether it is true or not!
- A negative mindset causes a perpetual posture of DOUBT
- DOUBT creates HESITATION (or paralysis)
- HESITATION leads to failure
- Mindsets are what creates your expectations
- Your expectations are self-fulfilling prophecy
- What you EXPECT, you get
- A mindset LOCKS you into a realm, thereby limiting your level of result and achievement
The Power of Mindsets
Mindsets (strongly held beliefs) are contained in the sub-conscious part of our mind. They become SECOND NATURE; meaning, we do not even THINK about them, we simply act according to the information we have selected as truth. In other words, our mindsets (good or bad), create for us what is NORMAL or expected. If my ‘normal’ is not producing the results I wish for, then what has become normal to me is likely not normal at all. A mindset not aligned with God’s truth (the only truth that really matters) holds the person to a measure and reality that is less than their actual, God-given potential. A mindset that is aligned WITH God’s truth awakens, engages, empowers, and releases my God-given potential, and converts it into real, tangible, and super-sized results.
How Do We Begin To Change our Mind?
- Identify faulty and limiting mindsets (Look at fruit)
- Move from passivity to intentionality as it relates to our thoughts and outcomes; Take every thought captive (arrest, do not entertain)
- Examine the Word of God; reflect and remember every ‘Word’ God has spoken to you or about you; Record every proclamation of truth about your identity, life, and future)
- From each statement, create summarized ‘affirmation’ or ‘confession’ statements that RE-FORM and RE-PLACE limiting beliefs
- Develop and engage the HABIT of reading/affirming/confessing these statements … every day … UNTIL
- Develop ‘I AM’ statements
- Engage in Accountability: have someone you trust hold you accountable in the area of your beliefs and conversation

II Corinthians 10:5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
Proverbs 23.7 For as he thinks within himself, so he is.
- What you THINK is what you produce
- How we COMPUTE our self concept, self-esteem, and self worth has direct implications on how we perform in life and in leadership
- I cannot produce something I DON’T believe in!
The Process of Thought Transference:
- A source transmits its ideas through words or images
- Words heard or images seen transmits thoughts or ideas to our mind
- Thoughts conceived become IDEAS
- Ideas conceived become IDEOLOGIES
- Ideologies conceived become BELIEFS
- Beliefs conceived become CONVICTIONS
- Convictions conceived become PHILOSOPHIES
- Philosophies conceived become LIFESTYLES
- Lifestyles determine our DESTINY or destination
Our mindsets, attitudes, beliefs, and convictions are almost always determined by someone else’s ideas. The key to living effectively as the LEADER God has made you to be is to be receiving your THOUGHTS from the correct SOURCE. When your philosophy, beliefs, thoughts, and convictions are grounded in the way your were created to THINK, you will naturally rule over your ENVIRONMENT, and fulfill your LIFE’S PURPOSE. Your MIND matters, and it CONTROLS how you manage MATTER. When I truly understand what it means to made in the LIKENESS of the Creator, I will possess certain ATTITUDES and BELIEFS about myself that allow me to realize my LEADERSHIP POTENTIAL.
Four Areas of KNOWING:
Self-Concept/Image
- You are designed in HIS image
- This is the PICTURE of how you are suppose to see yourself
- The first thing the Creator gave man was not dominion, but rather it was his NATURE
- It was his SELF IMAGE or SELF CONCEPT
- If I do not know who I AM, then I cannot relate to others, or my world on the basis of truth, rather, I relate to them from a distorted perspective
- Man’s first gift from God was HIS IMAGE!
- The foundation of leadership is a sound SELF IMAGE
Self Worth
- Your self worth is the VALUE you place on yourself
- Leaders value OTHERS as they value themselves
- The majority of people do not have SELF WORTH, they have what we will call, OTHER’S WORTH
- This is the ACCEPTANCE of the worth OTHERS place on you.
- Many people spend their entire lives trying to LIVE UP TO other’s evaluations of them, GOOD or BAD.
- If someone expects LITTLE of me, I had better prove them right.
- You cannot give SIGNIFICANCE until you have it for YOURSELF.
Deut 6:5
You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.
Matthew 22:36-40
36 “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” 37 And He said to him, “‘YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND.’ 38 This is the great and [a]foremost commandment. 39 The second is like it, ‘YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.’ 40 On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets.”
- A healthy INTRAPERSONAL relationship is a pre-requisite for effective and meaningful INTERPERSONAL relationships.
- Your attitude toward me is a REFLECTION of your attitude toward yourself
- How can I LEAD others effectively if I presently possess a poor and ungodly self-concept, self worth, and self esteem?
Self – Esteem
- Self Worth asks, “How much value do I believe I have?
- Self Esteem asks, “What does this mean to my environment?
- Self esteem is your self-estimation of your value to the world around you
Self Awareness
- KNOW THYSELF
- When a person gets to know his CREATOR, and finally comes to KNOW HIMSELF, then his LEADERSHIP is born
The entire world is awaiting the SONS of God to awaken, engage, and act like the LEADERS God has created us to be. We must examine our THOUGHTS, our BELIEFS, our PHILOSOPHIES, and our CONVICTIONS and be renewed in our MIND so that we may LEAD with purpose.
QUESTIONS:

3. Do you ascribe an accurate VALUE to your worth?
4. Are you AWARE of your significance, and the weightiness of your assignment?
